Foundation Board of Directors set 2009-2010 Directions for the Society

The Foundation for the History of Navy Medicine was organized to provide financial support for the work of the Society. This will include covering the costs of Society Papers Sessions and meetings, creating a travel bursary to sponsor graduate student participation in Society actities, payment for Grog Ration editorial services, and other tasks as recommended by Society members and as approved by the Foundation Board of Directors.

At its annual meeting in March 2009, Foundation Board approved a dues program to start in 2010. Tax deductible dues will be $25 per year; Life Membership at $200 will be offered. Our goal is to make payment on line possible, likely through PayPal.

In addition, the Board approved the notion of expanding our meeting venues to appeal to additional constituencies. Specifically recommended were the Society for Military History (SMH), the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States (AMSUS) and perhaps others. We will undertake discussions with leadership of these organizations to with a view to mounting Papers Sessions or panels at their meetings in the future.
