About the Society

The Society for the History of Navy Medicine was founded in May 2006. Since then, we have grown to more than 115 members from around the world.

Our goal is to provide a place of "Community, Collaboration and Camaraderie" for people who are interested in study, research and writing about any and all aspects of the history of medicine as it relates to Navies and the maritime environment. We are a constituent society of the American Association for the History of Medicine.

The Foundation for the History of Navy Medicine, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity, was launched on 28 May 2008. One Foundation mission is to support the work of the Society. Check the Foundation page for latest progress.
